Frequently asked questions about the big day
- Are kids invited? Yes! Since so many of our friends and family have small children, we wanted to make sure to plan a wedding that would be fun and accomodating for them. So please bring your kids with you. The wedding is at noon, so they won't have to stay up late, and we'll have some activities to entertain them.
- Who will be performing the wedding? Cantor Shirah Lipson will be performing the ceremony. She has spent over a year and a half living in Jerusalem and is well versed in modern Hebrew. In the past five years or so she has served as a leader in congregations all over the United States and Israel, including Jerusalem, Haifa, Israel, St. Louis, Mo, New York, Fort Worth, Texas, and Norwalk, CT. Her mother taught music at Staples High School.
- Where will the wedding be? The wedding is being held at the Birchwood Country Club in Westport, CT (Google Map).
- I can't attend -- will you be posting photos and things online? Of course! Many of our favorite people are not going to be able to attend (a large number of them seem to be having babies that week for some reason and others just can't travel to the East Coast to join us). Emily's brother Brian is being drafted to "live blog" the event, posting photos and quotes and things (assuming there's decent net access from the wedding location.) Plus we hope that you will participate by sending us something to read to each other at the rehearsal dinner (details here).
- What should I wear? We're not intending the wedding to be very formal (so you don't need to go rent a tux!) Keep in mind that March in Connecticut can be nice and spring-like or we may have snow...
- Are you registered anywhere? Yes, we are registered at Amazon.com and, through the I Do Foundation, a percentage of each gift that you buy for Emily and Shachar will be donated to selected charities. We have registered for charitable gifts supporting the Sierra Club Foundation, First Book and the Human Rights Campaign Fund. As your wedding gift, we suggest that you consider making a secure, tax-deductible donation to one of these groups.
